Staff
Dr. Troy Smith

Dr. Smith was raised in Austin where most of his family still lives. He graduated from Crockett High School which is on the same street as the clinic. He received his B.Sc. degree with honors and DVM degree from Texas A&M University. He has been in Austin in private practice since 1991. He has 2 dogs and 3 cats. Dr. Smith is an avid fly fisherman. His professional interest include internal medicine, diseases of the ear, and laser therapy. Dr. Smith writes articles regarding pet health for the Slaughter Creek Reporter. He also serves in the Texas military forces as the Commander of the Austin Medical Company - a unit of the Texas State Guard Medical Brigade. In addition to his monthly drill and training obligations, he has been activated and deployed for disaster relief operations such as Hurricaines Gustov and Ike.

Dr. Sandra Ontiveros
Dr. Ontiveros was born in California but grew up in El Paso, TX. She received her B.S. in Zoology from The University of Texas at Austin, and fell in love with the town. She went on to receive her DVM and then her MBA from Texas A&M University. She has been practicing general medicine and emergency medicine since she graduated in 2004. She has 2 dogs that she adores, Hannah and Maverick. She loves being active and some of her hobbies include running, rock climbing and yoga. Her professional interests included surgery and internal medicine. Dr. Ontiveros writes articles regarding pet health for the Slaughter Creek Reporter newspaper.
Terri Smith
Terri, a third generation Aggie, has a B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. She worked as a lab technician for the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab before joining the staff here in 1996 as the office manager. She enjoys interacting with our clients and their pets. She feels it is a privilege to witness the emotional bond between a pet and their family. She has a Texas Blue Lacy and a Flat-coated Retriever along with 3 cats.
Rachel
Rachel is a native Austinite who began working as a veterinary receptionist in 1994. Since then, Rachel has worked as kennel attendant, receptionist, technician and surgical assistant. Rachel joined the MVVC team in January 2007. She is dedicated to improving the human/animal bond through education and excellent customer service. She is a proud "mom" to her 4 rescued dogs and 2 box turtles.
Claire
Claire was born in Richardson, Texas and graduated from Cedar Valley Community College in 1979 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has had a love for animals ever since finding two puppies as a little girl. She has worked for over 30 years in the veterinary field, including a specialty hospital, large and small animal hospitals and a horse breeding ranch. She started working at MVVC in 2008. She has 3 children, 3 dogs, 5 cats and a hog nose snake. She enjoys horseback riding and reading.
Liz
Liz moved to Austin from Washington, D.C. in 2005, but her hometown will always be Lafayette, Louisiana. She started working with us when she arrived in Austin and has been a registered veterinary technician since 2005. She and her husband, Patrick, have a sweet little boy and girl. They share their south Austin home with a border collie and 3 cats.
Stephanie
Stefanie moved to Texas in 2000 from Detroit, Michigan where she was born and raised. In 2002, Stefanie began her career in animal husbandry, working at a boarding facility, but joined the MVVC staff in the summer of 2005. She is an avid rescuer/foster parent and has found many animals loving homes. She enjoys serving and educating clients on animal care. Her home is shared with 4 cats, 3 dogs, 2 Beta fish and 2 Box turtles.
Gage
Gage was born and raised in Austin and graduated from Akins High School in 2010. He earned Certified Veterinary Assistant in June 2009, the same time he joined MVVC. His hobbies include gaming, drumming and raising his boxer, Sadie. He hopes to attend Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Kaydee
Kaydee joined the MVVC staff in August 2010. She has been a veterinary technician since 2006 and enjoys educating pet owners on how to care for their four-legged family members. Kaydee is an avid marathon runner and has four dogs.
